Is a marriage contract, witnessed by two witnesses who are relatives of the bride, the groom
or the Waliy, such as a brother, son or grandfather, valid? Actually, some people claim that the contract as such is invalid, while others deem it to be valid. Please, tell us about the right position.
The marriage contract is valid if witnessed by relatives of the two spouses - except ascendants and descendants of the one marrying, i.e. father and grandfathers or sons and sons' sons - as they are not accusable. (Part No. 18; Page No. 185) May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
