Slaughtering the Ud-hiyah at the home where one's family reside

Q 1: My work commissioned me to work at the Al-Masha`ir (Sacred sites where the rites of Hajj are performed: Mina, `Arafah and Muzdalifah) during the season of Hajj this year. It is a great opportunity that I wished to serve the pilgrims of the Sacred House of Allah. As the place of my work and my residence are outside of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, I will take my family to Makkah to stay at the home of my wife's brother until I finish my mission and then return to my residence. My question is what should I do regarding my Ud-hiyah (sacrificial animal offered by non-pilgrims)? Should I give any neighbor of mine the monetary value of the Ud-hiyah to buy, slaughter and distribute it according to the followed way on my behalf? Should I deputize the brother of my wife where my family will stay in his home to offer the Ud-hiyah on my behalf? Please advise; may Allah reward you with the best!

A: According to the Sunnah Ud-hiyah should be slaughtered at the home where your family resides so they can eat and give charity from it. Moreover, it is permissible to deputize someone in your country to slaughter it on your behalf.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
