Inability to memorize the Qur'an
Q 7: What is the ruling on someone who reads the Qur’an frequently but cannot memorize it due to weak memory? Also, what is the ruling on someone who memorized the Qur’an and then forgot it, like those who memorize it just to pass an exam? Is this sinful?
A: Anyone who reads the Qur’an frequently but cannot memorize it due to weakness of memory will be rewarded for the reading and excused for not being able to memorize it. Allah (Exalted be He) says: So keep your duty to Allâh and fear Him as much as you can Muslims who memorize the Qur’an - just to pass an exam for example - and then forget it have done themselves wrong and missed great goodness.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
