Wearing a turban

Q 3: People who practice Da`wah (calling to Islam) have spread some claims. The Imam (the one who leads congregational Prayer) heard from them the Hadith reported on the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was asked, How did you come to know about the recitation of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) (during Zhuhr (Noon) and `Asr (Afternoon) Prayers)? He said, "From the movement of his beard." They grew their beards; became used to putting the turban on their shoulders and backs; and they perform Sujud (prostration) like camels.

A: First, it is authentically established in the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) that it is obligatory to grow the beards, whether long or short, and trim the moustaches.Second, it was authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he used to wear a turban. However, there is freedom in this matter.Third, it was authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that while offering Salah (Prayer), he used to place (Part No. 24; Page No. 42) his knees on the ground before his hands. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
