Women wearing gold

Q: Is it permissible for women to wear gold? I believe I have heard a Hadith stating that the Messenger (peace be upon him) prohibited gold for women. Please, advise.

A: It is not Haram (prohibited) for women to wear gold. It was narrated by Abu Musa Al-Ash`ary (Part No. 17; Page No. 137) (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) stated: Gold and silk are permitted for the female of our Ummah and prohibited for its male. (Narrated by Ahmad, Al-Nasa'y, Al-Tirmidhy who ranked it as Sahih (authentic)] It was also collected by Abu Dawud, and Al-Hakim who ranked it as Sahih (authentic). It was also collected by Al-Tabarany and Ibn Hazm ranked it as Sahih (authentic). May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
