Some person gave another some money to help him travel in pursuit of knowledge, but certain circumstances prevented him

Q 1: A person gave me some money to help me travel in pursuit of knowledge, but certain circumstances prevented me, should I keep this money or return it to the donator?

A: You should tell the donator the real situation. Thus, if he permits you, take it; otherwise, you have to return the sum to him, since the purpose for which he gave the money was not fulfilled.May Allah grant us success.
