Reciting the Ayahs backwards

A: It is not permissible to recite the Ayahs or the words of an Ayah inverted. The Ayahs must be recited in the same order as their words and according to their sequence in the Glorious Qur'an. The order of the Ayahs is Tawqify (bound by a religious text and not amenable to personal opinion), as reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). The Sahabah (Companions of the Prophet, may Allah be pleased with them) received (Part No. 3; Page No. 97) the order of the Ayahs from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). It was a matter of consensus among them. Thus, it is not permissible to recite the Ayahs in a reversed order, whether in or outside Salah.
