Is it permissible for women to recite Al-Fatihah at home for the dead

Q 2: Is it permissible for women to recite Al-Fatihah (Opening Chapter of the Qur'an) at home for the dead or is that absolutely impermissible?


A 2: It is impermissible to recite any of the Qur'an over a Janazah (funeral), whether it is Al-Fatihah or any other Surah (Qur'anic chapter) and this applies to both men and women. Such an act was not reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him). Hence, it is a Bid`ah (innovation in religion) and every Bid`ah is an error.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
