Bringing a maid from another country without a Mahram

Q 2: A woman has six children. She takes on all the chores of cooking, washing, raising the children, cleaning the house, as well as caring for her husband. Is it permissible for her to bring a Muslim maid from Ceylon?

A: It is not permissible to bring a maid from abroad except with a Mahram (spouse or permanently unmarriageable relative), for the Prophet (peace be upon him) stated, (Part No. 17; Page No. 327) A woman should not travel except with a Mahram (a spouse or an unmarriageable relative.) (Agreed upon by Imams Al-Bukhari and Muslim on the authority of Ibn `Abbas [may Allah be pleased with both of them]) May Allah grant us success.
